Academic Librarians and Our Role in Goverance, Academic Planning

The current University of Toronto Act (1971 – Amended 1978) makes no mention of libraries, the Chief Librarian or librarians at the University of Toronto. This, as many know, is not the case at most institutions across Canada, and worries many in the UT community. CAUT ‘s discussion paper on the important role academic librarians play in the governance of post-secondary institutions and why we need to be a ‘visible’ and vocal minority is worth reading: “CAUT Librarians’ Committee Discussion Paper on Governance and Librarians”
