CAPAL: Canadian Association of Professional Academic Librarians

In December 2012 CAPAL was formed. Since then the Steering Committee has been busy. CAPAL has officially been incorporated as a national organization for academic librarians as of June 12, 2013. The year-old organization has formulated a constitution, incorporated, set-up a bilingual webpage  at http://capalibrarians.org/, a facebook presence, listserv for members and twitter account. Librarians at UofT have been active participants, along with other colleagues across Canada who are seeking to promote the profession of academic librarianship. A Mission Statement, Terms of Reference and Statement of Principles are posted on the CAPAL website. CAPAL is currently working with the Canadian Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences in the organization of the first CAPAL Conference in May 2014 at Brock University. Inauguration membership to CAPAL is still available at http://capalibrarians-rss.eventbrite.ca/  .  A survey has gone out to our membership asking members to indicate their priorities for CAPAL in the coming year. Join us and be part of the next phase.
